Make a real difference in the lives of incarcerated people by connecting with Poet Ambassadors who will share their personal stories and their poetry with you in a live-streamed event. Poet Ambassadors will also share works by writers still in prison. This event has been specially designed for TTN by Free Minds, a DC non-profit supported by the late Congressman John Lewis. Free Minds works with incarcerated and formerly incarcerated individuals through creative writing, job readiness training, and violence prevention outreach. You will have a unique opportunity to provide valued written feedback and encouragement to poets & writers. Free Minds will provide instruction for feedback during the program. Help these young women & men be seen and heard as we work together to "widen the circle" and support for those struggling in our broader community. Learn about the linkage between mass incarceration and systemic racism as well as the power of art in healing and in communicating the need for change. All chapters are welcome and you are are invited to bring a guest. Please register by noon on Wednesday, May 18. Registration is limited so sign up early! While there is no charge for this event, we encourage you to consider making a donation to Free Minds. https://freemindsbookclub.org/ Please contact Karen Gladding or Janet Wright-Simpson at DC@ttnwomen.org, with any questions.
