Join us for a spirited presentation, as Erica Elliott, M.D., and author of “Medicine and Miracles in the High Desert: My Life Among the Navajo People,” describes her incredible experiences on the Navajo Reservation. The story begins in 1971 when Erica was a newly minted schoolteacher on the Navajo Reservation, knowing nothing about her students or their culture. She describes how her teacher’s aide helped her break language and cultural barriers. Once Erica started to speak their language, the children began to trust her and developed an intense desire to learn English. Their families welcomed her into their homes and sacred ceremonies and shared with her the richness of their ancient traditions. Erica witnessed profound events including miraculous healings, peyote ceremonies, and encounters with ancient spirits. This program will be presented both in-person at Montezuma Lodge and virtually via Zoom. Register to receive the Zoom link! Open to TTN members and non-members. Bring a friend!
