NYC (V) - African American Art: A Mirror of Social Issues 9/30/22 (4pm ET)

Friday, September 30, 2022, 4:00 PM until 5:30 PM

BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND!!

Our first virtual conversation with African American artist and educator, Chichi Lovett, on the role that works of art play in commenting on and enhancing our mirror into social issues, was so engaging that participants asked for more!

And more!! August will be our 7th, and September the 8th, of these engaging conversations.

Each session is a separate and complete “journey” through a work of African American art. It is not necessary to sign up for every session. (Each session is $8 for members and $12 for guests.)

This event will be a “cameras on” live discussion – following the format of Professor Lovett’s popular on-line classes. Prior art experience of any kind is not necessary.  Professor Lovett’s discussions are for everyone!

Our Presenter:

Garnetta ‘Chichi’ Lovett is a retired Auburn University tenured professor who now resides in Washington DC. She currently hosts a popular weekly online arts program that attracts a diverse national audience. In addition to her teaching responsibilities at Auburn, Chichi served on the Alabama State Council for the Arts, served as the Diversity Officer for the College of Liberal Arts at Auburn University, and cofounded Auburn City Kids and the Auburn Arts Association Visual Arts Workshops among other community arts programs and courses.
