Individuals and groups have the power to effect significant changes through philanthropy on all levels of giving. This belief anchors the philosophy of collective giving on which TTN Philadelphia’s Giving Circle is grounded. By joining our first 2023 program, you will gain insights into the impact of collective giving as well as how philanthropy is changing to have a more direct and localized impact.
Our panelists are Philadelphia leaders of local organizations who will discuss how their organizations and others have brought about change through solutions created and led by those most effected by the myriad of challenges facing women and children in Philadelphia. They are:
Amy Holdsman, Moderator, Founder and President, Essential Leadership
Diane Cornman-Levy, Chief Disruptor of Women’s Way
Edurne (Eddie) Irizarry, Lead of Community Impact, Social Venture Partners, Philadelphia
Jovida Hill, Executive Director, Office of Engagement for Women, Mayor's Office
Our panelists will also illustrate how, through trust-based relationships between donors and nonprofits, the power imbalance between grant makers and grantees is shifting. Unrestricted funding, transparency and responsiveness on the part of grant makers, providing support beyond the check and recognizing that nonprofits know best how to serve their communities, are just some of the ways in which the philanthropy lens is being re-focused.
And, finally, you will hear from people with “lived experience” with poverty and other social issues and how they are playing a critical role in deciding the ways in which funds can positively impact their underserved communities.
