French author Annie Ernaux, the freshly-minted winner of the 2022 Nobel Prize in Literature, will be the topic of our May literary discussion. We will talk about the author’s life via her autobiographical book Happening (96 pages). While Happening will be our central focus into this author’s many memories, it is a relatively short book. As such, attendees are encouraged to additionally explore Ms. Ernaux’s memoir A Girl’s Story (160 pages). Also based on the author’s personal experiences, Ernaux explores herself within a situation that occurred 50 years earlier. It is, in essence, a companion book to Happening.
