Located in the heart of Washington, D.C., the National Museum of Women in the Arts (NMWA) is the first museum in the world solely dedicated to championing women through the arts. With its collections, exhibitions, programs, and online content, the museum seeks to inspire dynamic exchanges about art and ideas. NMWA advocates for better representation of women artists and serves as a vital center for thought leadership, community engagement, and social change. The museum addresses the gender imbalance in the presentation of art by bringing to light important women artists of the past while promoting great women artists working today.
The rotating special exhibitions showcase historic and contemporary artwork. And the collection features over 5,500 works from the 16th century to today created by more than 1,000 artists.
The plan is to rendezvous at the museum entrance at 12:30 pm. Our private, overview tour of the museum starts at 1 pm. There will be time to explore other parts of the museum and have something to eat before we return to Philadelphia. Registration includes admission to the museum plus a private highlights tour. This event has a limited capacity. Note: You are responsible for your own transportation (driving, carpooling, train). We want to recommend that if you are planning to go by train, you might want to purchase your Amtrak ticket NOW, as some fares for these trains are $18 each way. Train #141 departs Phila at 9:51 am, and returning train #138 departs DC at 6:05 pm. Also note that cancellations are accepted through 4/15/24 (no refunds will be issued after that date). In the event that you need to cancel with that time from, the funds will be credited to your TTN account for future purchases.
