BOS (V) - Remembering Boston's "Combat Zone" (March 22, 5pm ET)

REMEMBERING BOSTON'S COMBAT ZONE

March 22, 2024
5-6:00 pm EST

How did Boston, the epitome of prudeishness, become home to the notorious "Combat Zone"

How did this great New England city become home to one of the largest and notorious adult entertainment districts in the nation?   Author Stephanie Schorow has teased out the issues that created this controversial neighborhood.

She will share her insights and stories about the politicians, exotic dancers, wise guys and residents brought together by the adult entertainment district - a five-acre neighborhood the city engineered to contain the very porno plague it wanted to eliminate.

Stephanie Schorow  is a journalist, author, writing instructor, clay artist, avid gardener and cat lover.  She is the author, co-author, or editor of nine books on Boston history including Inside the Combat Zone.  She has worked as an editor and reporter for the Boston Herald, the Associated Press and numerous other
.publications.   She wrote restaurant reviews for the Boston Globe North section.  She has a degree in journalism from Northwestern University and a master's degree in Latin American Studies from New York University
