Conservation Center for Art & Historic Artifacts
264 South 23rd Street, Philadelphia
Tour B: Friday, March 8 at 1:00 pm

The Conservation Center for Art and Historic Artifacts, based in Fitler
Square, is an internationally recognized resource for the repair and
stabilization of precious paper based materials, including books,
photographs, art on paper and documents. Founded in Philadelphia
in 1977, it has treated early copies
of the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution, brought
family scrapbooks back to life after devastating floods, and treated
drawings by Degas, Cezanne, and Renoir.
Our tour will include an introduction to the conservation and preservation
of cultural heritage while getting a glimpse into a working conservation lab.
We will visit the book, paper, and photograph conservation areas,
where conservators will share the current projects that they’re working on.
The tour also will include the digitization, housing, and preservation
services areas. Associate Paper Conservator Joanna Hurd will provide a
focused look at photo conservation, followed by a Q+A.
Note: This 1:00 pm event is the second of two identical tours.
A repeat tour starts at 11:30 am.
The cancellation deadline is Monday, 2/26/24. If you need to cancel prior to the deadline, you will be issued a refund to your TTN account, to be used for future purchases.
