About this event
Wednesday, October 11, 2023, 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM ET
We can all agree that having good posture throughout your life is important. We walk better, move better, breathe better, look better, think better, and feel better when we can be upright with ease.
In this 45-minute experiential workshop we will: learn why and how our posture may shift as we age, experience how our posture can affect our confidence and mood, and explore different postural patterns and learn simple ways to feel upright with ease.
Hedy suggests that you have an armless chair available during this presentation.
Is it ever too late to change your posture?
Well, let's look at this objectively. What we physically can and cannot do as we age depends on each person and their individual life circumstances.
There are people in their 60's who climb Mt. Everest; people in their 70's who run marathons; people in their 80's who begin weight lifting; and people in their 90's who still dance their hearts out.
Human beings have overcome all sorts of physical limitations and defied odds to achieve great feats. It is NEVER too late to do practically anything... And posture is no exception! In fact, in the grand scheme of things, posture is quite simple to improve (much simpler than climbing a mountain!)
Hedy Iankelevich is a movement teacher, anatomy enthusiast and mother. Her mission is to create and share accessible and practical movement classes for the senior community. Over the past decade, she has studied with experts in the fields of anatomy, yoga, somatics, biomechanics, Franklin Method, and breath-work.
Her unique approach originated from working with her very own father which led her to create Movement for Life, a program thoughtfully and creatively designed for older adults. She knows that there’s no age-limit for positive change and self-improvement.
