CHI (V) - Workshop: Attachment Styles in Relationships

CHI-Attachment-Workshop

How Does Your Attachment Style Impact Your Relationships?

Attachment theory describes how people behave in relationships, from their desires for closeness and intimacy to their sensitivity to potential relationship threats. Proposed by psychoanalyst John Bowlby in the ‘50s, it originally focused on how infants react to separation from caregivers. In the ‘80s, researchers found it also applied to adult behavior in romantic and other relationships.

Understanding your own attachment style, as well as the style of the people in your life, can improve your relationships. Which style are you?  There are 4 attachment styles: secure, anxious, avoidant, and fearful avoidant (or disorganized).  We can fall solidly within one style, or we may fall on a spectrum, depending on the context and person.

Psychotherapist Holly Herzog will discuss each of these attachment styles and how they show up in our relationships, then she will teach us how to train our nervous systems to relax, with the goal to move into a more secure attachment style over time.

Join us on Thursday, November 16, 5-6pm Central over Zoom for a 60-minute interactive talk.

If you get the chance, learn your attachment style before the session by taking this quick online quiz: quiz.attachmentproject.com
