Fraunces Tavern® Museum is the only museum in New York City that allows visitors to discover America’s Revolutionary History while inside of NYC’s oldest standing structure – dating from 1719.

The building is most famous as the site where George Washington gathered a group of his officers in the Long Room in 1783, nine days after the last of the British troops left American soil, to thank them for their service and bid them an emotional farewell before returning home to Mt. Vernon.

Our private tour will also include exhibits about Governing the Nation from Fraunces Tavern in the 1780’s, the tavern’s continuing role in the city’s social life, the Revolutionary Portrait and Flag galleries, and the special exhibit on the Birch Trials - highlighting the fates of New York’s Black residents who were American Patriots or Loyalists to the British.
