Our May outing is hosted by Barbara Romanoff.
It's time to learn more about our home grown artists and visit the Smithsonian American Art Museum (SAAM)! This museum is the nation’s first collection of American art, and is an unparalleled record of the American experience. The collection captures the aspirations, character, and imagination of the American people throughout three centuries. It is the home to one of the largest and most inclusive collections of American art in the world.
SAAM tells the stories of America through the visual arts, and its collection spans more than three centuries of artistic achievement that parallels the nation’s cultural development. The Museum captures the extraordinary creativity of our artists, whose works are windows on the American experience. Everyone can discover his or her own story on its walls.

We'll meet at 11:45 am in the lobby of the G Street entrance for our docent led tour. The closest Metro station is Gallery Place/Chinatown, just 0.1 mile away. There are also several parking garages nearby.
Get ready for a delicious meal at Zatinya, 701 9th Street, NW, at 1:30 pm, a 2 minute walk from the museum. Zaytinya is one of José Andrés famed restaurants featuring Mediterranean small plates. We will have the option of choosing from the main menu or the brunch menu.
Please sign up as soon as you can so our lunch reservations can be finalized. Looking forward to seeing you!
