DC (P) Tour of WAMU Radio Station and Lunch in NW DC
Join us for a private tour of WAMU 88.5, The visit promises to be a fun and educational behind-the-scenes look at how a public radio station operates. The tour will include a visit to the WAMU’s radio production studios, performance spaces, and work areas. We will also observe a live show, 1A.
Lunch
After the tour we will enjoy lunch at Thai Pad at 4481 # B Connecticut Ave, Washington DC 20008. You can check out the menu at www.thaipaddc.com.
Metro
Get off at Van Ness Metro (Red Line). Use the east exit (to your right). When you get to street level Connecticut Avenue will be on your left. Walk half of a block and WAMU 88.5 will be on your right. Above the building entrance, you will see “American University”.
Parking
WAMU has limited parking available but you must obtain a parking pass in advance. To get a pass, please contact Debra at least ten days prior to the event. She will notify the WAMU staff and you will receive the pass by email from WAMU.
There are other options, too. Metered street parking is very limited but available. The closest parking garage is the Landmark Parking Garage which is one block from WAMU 88.5. The parking garage is connected to Van Ness Center (4301 Connecticut Ave, NW) and Giant Food. The entrance to the garage is located off of Veazey Terrace NW. The parking rates for the garage are as follows: $7 (up to 1 hour); $11 (1-2 hours); and $13 (3+ hours). Please note that these fees are posted on WAMU's website and may not be up-to-date.
