DC (P) - "Multiplicity: Blackness in Contemporary American Collage" DC Museum Arts (Noon) Aug 3

Join the Women's Connection Museum Arts group at the Phillips Collection for “Multiplicity: Blackness in Contemporary American Collage.” This first large-scale exhibition is dedicated to exploring collage by contemporary Black American artists. Featuring nearly 60 works by 49 artists, this exhibition celebrates the broad variety and complexity of Black identity in art. Building on a technique that has roots in European and American traditions, the diverse, intergenerational group of artists have created innovative works with pieces of paper, photographs, fabrics, and/or other salvaged materials. The bold compositions, created with an array of experimental techniques, offer poignant expressions of human experience.

We'll meet at noon in the lobby of the Phillips Collection. The Phillips Collection is not one of DC's free museums, but it might be free for you. Entrance is $15 for seniors, or $20 for young'uns, or free on the first weekend if you can show a Bank of America credit card.

After viewing the exhibit, it's about a one block walk to lunch at Teaism, a DC institution casual restaurant with a sort of healthy, Asian vibe. You can see the menu here.
