Do you love to meditate? Or do you think meditation is an activity reserved only for those who can sit still and go Om?
In this program, award-winning author, meditation leader, and mental health advocate, Nita Sweeney, will show us how we can meditate on the go, with fitness and mindfulness co-existing in every move we make, every single day.
Following the wisdom of her book Make Every Move A Meditation: Mindful Movement for Mental Health, Well-Being and Insight, Nita will help us learn how to turn any sort of exercise into a meditation tool. Running? Swimming? Walking? Nita believes that any sort of physical movement can become a meditation practice.
She speaks from experience. As told in her first book, Depression Hates a Moving Target: How Running with My Dog Brought Me Back from the Brink, she got off the couch and allowed running to bring her closer to wholeness after a struggle with bipolar disorder and depression. Turns out that for her, running had become a form of meditation.
She will also share a few excerpts from the latest mindfulness tool she’s created: A Daily Dose of NOW: 365 Mindfulness Meditation Practices for Living in the Moment.
A Daily Dose provides a brief personal story and a daily practice for readers to use throughout the year – something to keep in mind, perhaps, on the way to your favorite meditation on the go.
Although Nita Sweeney and her books have received acclaim from established meditators and writers worldwide, she lives right here in Central Ohio with her husband Ed. After completing three ultramarathons, three full marathons, thirty-two half marathons (in twenty-three states), and more than one hundred shorter races, she is still running – currently with The Pupperina, a yellow lab named Scarlet.
