Women's Connection Philadelphia Chapter is looking for 25 volunteers to help WHY NOT PROSPER package and deliver
"LOVE BAGS" to incarcerated women in Philadelphia, PA.
Why Not Prosper has collected items for distribution to incarcerated women during the week of Thanksgiving for several years. This activity allows Why Not Prosper staff and volunteers to introduce their program and service offerings to currently incarcerated women as something to look forward to upon their release. This year,
Women's Connection set up an Amazon Gift Registry to allow our members to contribute needed items for the bags and more information about how to do that is included
HERE.
Women's Connection members who can commit to both days of volunteering will be given preference over members who can only volunteer for one of the two activities. However, we know this not possible for many of you and there is plenty of flexibility in choosing which activity you can commit to. During the Registration process, you will be asked which day/activities you are specifically signing up for.
For security reasons, please note that we are required to give the Correctional Facility the list of names of those volunteering for the Tuesday Nov. 26 Thanksgiving meal
no later than November 5th. Make sure you are able to commit to helping out for that activity!
The packaging of the LOVE BAGS will take place on Monday, November 25th starting at 8:30am until completion. This activity will take place at Why Not Prosper's headquarters located at 717 East Chelten Avenue, Philadelphia, PA. There is street parking around the facility.
Delivery of the LOVE BAGS to the prison and help serving a Thanksgiving meal to the women will take place on Tuesday, November 26th
starting promptly at 8:00am at the Philadelphia Industrial Correction Center (PICC), 8301 State Road, Philadelphia, PA. There is street parking around the facility.
Please note that each volunteer signing up for Tuesday Nov. 26th will have to be searched and go through a metal detector to enter the Correctional Facility. We will send more specific instructions about dress code and other information once your have registered.
