Shermann “Dilla” Thomas, whose TikTok videos about Chicago have over 100,000 followers, will lead us on his very popular bus tour of Bronzeville, formerly known as the “Black Metropolis.” Along the way he will share stories about this historic neighborhood and his love of Chicago, best expressed in his mantra, “everything dope about America was either made in, or made better by, Chicago.“ The birthplace of gospel and a center for writers, musicians, artists, and civil rights leaders for decades, it is now experiencing a cultural and commercial renaissance. From Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, the Blues District, a monument to Ida B. Wells (journalist and civil rights activist), to the Bronzeville winery, we will be immersed in Bronzeville’s past contributions and its current vibrancy.
Dilla’s tours are very popular and sell out quickly so register now! They are holding 20 spaces for us.
Due to the mid-day timing of the tour, there will no group lunch.
Note: It is likely that there will be others on the tour with us as the bus can accommodate more than our group. The bus will arrive at 11:45am; please come early for best seating arrangements.
