Beth Sholom Synagogue in Elkins Park, PA is the only synagogue designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, and one of the few buildings that Wright said was co-designed, in this case by Rabbi Mortimer J. Cohen. Dedicated in September, 1959, the building was designated as a National Historic Landmark in 2007 and as one of the seventeen Wright buildings most worthy of preservation. The building continues to be home to Beth Sholom, a Conservative Jewish egalitarian congregation.
Our 2-hour private tour will be led by our local Women's Connection member Robin Eisenberg, who has been a docent at Beth Sholom for five years. The tour includes a 20 minute film that tells the history of how Beth Sholom was built. An elevator is available to reach the two sanctuaries in the building.
With its 110' tall glass sanctuary and classic Wright motifs and designs, Beth Sholom is a unique structure and the only non-residential Wright building in the Philadelphia area.
Please refer to the registration list to arrange a car pool, although the synagogue is accessible from Septa bus #55.
Please note that cancellations are accepted through 3/4/25. Should you need to cancel by that date, you will be issued a credit to your Women's Connection account, to be applied to future purchases.
