Inspiring Women – Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was elected to the US Congress in 2018, when she was only 29 years old. She has been an energetic and vocal advocate for democratic socialism. In 2020, she was accosted on the steps of the US Capitol and called a “fu**ing bitch” by a male member of Congress. Shortly thereafter, she responded to the attack in an address to the US House of Representatives. We will listen to that speech together and then discuss it in light of last month’s session on Australian PM Julia Gillard.

Our Presenter: Jan Blustein
Jan Blustein is a member of the New York City Chapter. She was a Professor of Health Policy and Medicine at New York University, where she did research on the health and well-being of older people.
In her retirement she enjoys reading, gardening and working out.
