Community Help in Park Slope (CHiPS) is a community-based nonprofit in Brooklyn providing essential food support through two core programs: our community meals program, which provides breakfast, lunch, and an after-hours sandwich service six days per week, and their community pantry program, which distributes bags of groceries — including fresh vegetables— each week to neighbors facing food insecurity. Meals are served through a to-go window, and pantry distributions happen outdoors. Volunteers play a key role in keeping these vital services running smoothly.

Women’s Connection is committed to providing up to 10 people for our shift on Friday, September 26th, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

During the shift, you will support the Community Meals Program by assisting with preparing, packing, and serving upwards of 450 hot meals during the lunch service; helping clean and organize the kitchen; and preparing other food items like snacks and sandwiches that are distributed to neighbors. You are part of the full food service process—from prep to clean-up.

You will be rotating between tasks depending on the day’s needs, offering a meaningful, hands-on experience across CHiPS’ core programs. All volunteers will receive an on-site orientation and guidance from CHiPS staff throughout your shift.

CHiPS would welcome it if each of you volunteers brought either a loaf of bread or a box of pasta. These items help sustain their food services programs and support neighbors facing food insecurity.
