Dear Friends,
I am thinking of you as we make our way to the end of this momentous year. Whether you're feeling terrified or satisfied by the outcome of the presidential election, you are bound to be exhausted. Just being pummeled by moment-to-moment news reports and demands for donations would have been hard enough. But there were painful political disagreements with people we love. Plus the stream of personal joys and sorrows that make up even the most ordinary year.
The upcoming holidays will provide an opportunity for us to rest and replenish. The warm relationships we have formed within Women's Connection, and the fun activities that fill up our days, can be a source of great comfort as well.
Our organization's mission is "to empower women to thrive across life's transitions". It occurs to me that this is a good time to talk about empowerment. Empowerment isn't given to us at Women's Connection. We aren't a company or a government, where bosses give employees permission or orders to do things. In this sisterhood we're all a part of, we collaborate on ways to empower ourselves and each other.
Empowerment can take many forms. We know that when we stay healthy and continuously gain knowledge and skills, we get stronger and more confident. Being in a community with other women -- sharing ideas, experiences and laughter -- makes us stronger as well.
We will experience a great deal of change in 2025; there's no doubt about that. I know that many of you are looking for extra inspiration and support as we navigate new challenges and opportunities. A large number of you are organizing special programs, or are offering your expertise in leading stress-reducing meditation and yoga sessions. Others of you are joining forces to volunteer for causes you believe in and getting involved in protecting women's rights.
The Board of Directors and I are in close touch with your chapter's leadership team. We would love to hear from you too. What do you need from Women's Connection at this point in history, and at this time in your life? If you have thoughts or wishes, please send me an email by clicking on the button below. It may take me a little while, but I promise to get back to you.
Meanwhile -- wow! -- there are only a few weeks left in 2024. I am sending you wishes from my heart for a peaceful, restorative and happy holiday season.
With sincere appreciation for all you do
and great respect for all you are,
Darla Hastings
Executive Director
