Women’s Connection NYC Chapter is thrilled to relaunch our beloved Peer Groups— where meaningful conversations & powerful connections flourish!

Women's Connection Peer Groups provide a supportive environment in which members can connect, discuss topics of mutual interest, and foster meaningful relationships. These groups (typically 8-12 women) meet monthly at a group member’s home. Members of each group work together to select topics for discussion and share responsibility for ensuring that the group runs smoothly.

Whether you’re navigating a life challenge, chasing a new goal, or simply craving deeper connection with other like-minded minded women, Peer Groups welcome you.

WHAT DIFFERENTIATES A PEER GROUP FROM A SPECIAL INTEREST GROUP?

Special Interest Groups (SIGs) are groups organized around a known common interest or activity (museums, walking, diners out).

Peer groups are discussion groups in which members gather to have conversations related to topics of mutual interest and relevance. The goal of Peer Groups is for women to share experiences and learn from each other.

WHAT SHOULD YOU EXPECT AT A PEER GROUP MEETING?

Peer groups are structured meetings run by a “facilitator”. Meetings are held at the same day and time each month and take place in a Peer Group member’s home. Generally, there is time at the beginning and at the end of a meeting to chat, catch up and mingle.

Members of the group choose the topic that they want to discuss ahead of time. Lists of possible topics are available if a group would like suggestions for topics that have been successful in the past.

An experienced Women’s Connection facilitator joins the group during the first several meetings to help model the facilitator role (or at any time that the group requests additional assistance).

Thereafter, members of the group rotate acting as facilitator in order to help get the discussion started, ensure that everyone who wants to contribute has a chance to speak and that no one dominates the conversation unduly.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF A PEER GROUP?

A Peer Group provides opportunities for connection, new friendships, and mutually supportive exploration. [Peer Groups are a benefit of Women’s Connection membership. There is no additional cost to attend.]

WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO SUPPORT A PEER GROUP’S SUCCESS?

Peer Groups are successful when everyone makes a solid commitment to attend monthly meetings unless traveling or encountering an emergency. This commitment is vitally important so that members feel that everyone is there for one another and can rely on the group for support.

WANT TO JOIN A PEER GROUP?

Anyone interested in becoming a member of a Peer Group must first attend a Peer Group Orientation session. After the Orientation session we will ask everyone to complete an Intake Form, and we will begin to form new Peer Groups.

We are in the process of creating an Orientation session on Zoom and will announce the date and time in the next several weeks.
