Urban Hiking
General Information

The Urban Hiking SIG explores parks, trails, and new locations in the metro area with one or more monthly gatherings including hikes which focus on fitness and movement. Our hikes are about 3 miles and we walk at a moderate pace. Everyone is welcome to participate in any or all events throughout the year without any ongoing obligation. We also welcome suggestions from everyone on new locations to explore.

The group uses a rotational leadership model and invite members to select a location and lead a hike.

If you want to be added to the  list 1) add yourself to the contact group. or 2) Contact Lauren Edlund using the Member Directory.  If not a Member, please contact us with any questions you may have.

Event Information
MSP Urban Hiking SIG - Lake of the Isles Nov 22 2024
We kicked off our 2025 season a month early as eleven women walked around Bde Maka Ska on Friday, March 28. We all wondered if we had dressed appropriately as the wind came of the lake at the start, but many were shedding coats midway through the walk. We had great conversation and continued it at the nearby Caribou. We were glad to welcome some members who joined us for the first time and others we hadn't seen in a while. We were glad Liz W joined us and brought a friend. Once again, we forgot to take a picture so you will just have to imagine our happy faces as we enjoyed our lovely walk.

Lauren is once again coordinating our hikes which will be on the fourth Friday of the month. If you have already volunteered to lead one, thanks. If you are open to leading, contact Lauren. You can find her in the membership directory.

Our April hike will be on Friday, April 25, at 10:00 at Central Park in Roseville. We will check out a different section of the park that includes the nature center. See the link below for more information and to register. After the hike, whoever is interested can go to lunch at the nearby Winkin' Rooster restaurant.
