If you’ve been busy, you might have missed our attendance at The Russian Museum of Art in September or our tour and talk with painter Patricia Canney at her gallery in October. Your fellow Art Appreciators planned those outings.
Wednesday, Nov. 13, 1:00-2:30 p.m.
The group will meet Wednesday, Nov. 13, at 1 p.m. at Hopkins Center for the Arts to see “The Sacred Journey of Aging,” an exhibit of textile artist Susan Gangsei’s work. She uses images and metaphors to explore facets of the aging journey. In woven portraits of women, she investigates the paradoxical nature of growing older: the rewards and losses, and the feelings of both gratitude and grief. She does this with the belief that in pondering the transition, one can come to a place of acceptance and celebration.
Also at the center, other exhibits are available:
1. Twin Cities Iranian Culture Collective
2. “Emergence: Creativity, Illness and Healing” by Gail Wallinga. Bringing awareness to invisible disability, this exhibition depicts various stages of Wallinga’s healing journey from Lyme disease. In paintings and sculptural installations, she demonstrates how beauty and meaningful creations can emerge from arduous experiences.
