CHI (P) - Diversity & Inclusion Conversations - Verna Myers How to Overcome our Biases (6pm CT)
Talking about race can be uncomfortable and awkward. That’s why we’re proud to launch a new series called
Conversations on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI)
, where TTN members can explore issues and topics in a safe, non-judgmental environment. By doing so, we can broaden our knowledge, understand our increasingly diverse world and be better equipped to develop cross-racial friendships.
A first step in having meaningful conversations is to understand our unconscious biases. We all have them, whether they are gender, age, beauty or racial biases. We’ll begin Conversations on DEI by viewing together and discussing Verna Myers’
TedTalk
"How to Overcome our Biases - Run Boldly toward them!"
Ms. Myers is an inclusion strategist, cultural innovator, thought leader, and social commentator who is known for her high-energy keynotes, captivating insights and the ability to help people bridge differences and connect more meaningfully.
Wondering about your own unconscious bias? We encourage participants to take the
Harvard Implicit Bias Assessment
(click Social Attitudes and enter your email address) before attending this session. This is a great tool for personal reflection, and best of all, you don't have to share your results.
You’ll receive the address of the member hosting this event via email when you register. Light refreshments will be served.
