Hamnet: A Novel of the Plague, is a historical fiction novel written in 2020 by English-Irish author Maggie O’Farrell. This captivating book delves into the death of William Shakespeare’s son, Hamnet, who died of the plague at age 11 in 1596. The story is told from the perspective of Agnes, Hamnet’s mother and William Shakespeare’s wife. The story is about the plague that caused the death of her child, and how her family's tragedy inspired one of Shakespeare’s greatest plays.
