About this event
Understanding Immigration:
Myths and Realities
Monday September 18, 2023
2pm to 3:30pm Eastern Time
At HIAS PA - 600 Chestnut St. Phil.
Members: $20 Non-Members: $30
Cathryn Miller-Wilson, Executive Director of HIAS PA, will deepen our understanding about immigration issues in Philadelphia, separating the myths from realities. These issues are emerging from the larger immigration picture and policy changes nationwide.
She will provide an historical overview of the U.S. immigration system and discuss pathways to legal entry and status, border issues, and child and family separation. She will also talk about the unique challenges immigrants face in housing, education, healthcare, legal and other social justice impacts.
Cathryn will also discuss the services HIAS PA provides directly to immigrants and refugees and what TTN members may be able to do to support immigration initiatives in our local community.
