PHL - Sixth Annual Children's Book Drive
As in the past five years, the Fifth Annual TTN Philadelphia Children's Book drive will provide greatly needed books to
Historic Fair Hill (HFH)
, a non-profit organization in North Philadelphia that promotes early literacy in local schools.
Last year 865 books and over $1700 in monetary donations were garnered. In 2021, almost 860 books and over $1,200 in monetary donations were contributed. In 2020, 250 books and $1,160 were donated, and in 2018 and 2019, TTN members provided more than 600 books each year.
The TTN Children's Book Drive complements other TTN initiatives which support
Read by 4th
, the city-wide program dedicated to the goal of all children reading on grade level by the time they reach fourth grade.
Books donated during the book drive will go to four local school libraries that HFH has been able to re-open and staff, specifically the Julia de Burgos, John F. Hartranft, Potter-Thomas, and Bethune Schools, where the children can access them. HFH also promotes home libraries by providing regular book giveaways, hosting literacy events, and maintaining multiple little free libraries.
Donations will be greatly appreciated.
