During her long, prolific, and groundbreaking career, the American photographer, Dorothea Lange, made some of the most iconic portraits of the 20th century. Dorothea Lange: Seeing People reframes Lange’s work through the lens of portraiture, highlighting her unique ability to discover and reveal the character and resilience of those she photographed. Featuring some 100 photographs, the exhibition addresses her innovative approaches to picturing people, emphasizing her work on social issues including economic disparity, migration, poverty, and racism. The plan is to rendezvous at the entrance to the exhibit at 1 pm. We will join the 2 pm public tour. There will be time to explore other parts of the museum and have something to eat before we return to Philadelphia. Note: You are responsible for your own transportation (driving, carpooling, train). We want to recommend that if you are planning to go by train, you might want to purchase your Amtrak ticket NOW, as some fares are on sale. Train #141 departs Phila at 9:51 am, and returning train #138 departs DC at 6:05 pm - $32 or $40 round trip cost. There is no charge for museum admission and for the tour. Also note that cancellations are accepted through 2/26/24 (no refunds will be issued after that date). In the event that you need to cancel with that time from, the funds will be credited to your TTN account for future purchases.
