Our June outing is hosted by Susan Lilly.
Join us for a visit to The Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden. The Hirshhorn is celebrating its 50th-anniversary season with the exhibition
“Revolutions: Art from the Hirshhorn Collection, 1860–1960."
It is a major survey of artwork made during a transformative period characterized by new currents in science and philosophy, and ever-increasing mechanization. “Revolutions” captures shifting cultural landscapes through the largely chronological presentation. In its first rotation, the installation presents 208 artworks in the museum’s permanent collection by 117 artists—including Francis Bacon, Jean Dubuffet, Lee Krasner, Wifredo Lam, Jacob Lawrence, Georgia O’Keeffe and Jackson Pollock—made during 100 turbulent and energetic years.
The Hirshhorn is located on the National Mall at the corner of 7th Street SW and Independence Avenue. We will meet in the lobby at 11 am and explore the exhibit until 12:30 pm using the self-guiding tour at hi.si.edu. Be sure to have your phone and, perhaps, earbuds or airpods. The closest Metro station is L'Enfant Plaza (Green, Yellow, Orange, and Blue lines).
Lunch will follow at the recently reopened Mitsitam Native Foods Café in the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian which is conveniently located on Fourth Street & Independence Avenue, SW.
TTN Members who are not members of the Chapter or the SIG are welcome to sample up to three of this SIG's events. Members can also bring a non-member guest for a nominal fee.
