Twelve weeks of audacious Shakespeare, and not a doublet in sight.

DC is currently running a festival called "Shakespeare Everywhere."  It features a series of Shakespeare plays that have crashed up against modern theater.  "The Promised End" is a mashup of Shakespeare’s King Lear and Verdi’s Requiem, with an actress playing King Lear and Giuseppe Verdi, both at once, while at the same time eight singing actors offer the Requiem, both choral and solo parts, in its entirety.  On paper, it sounds almost like a parody, and in the wrong hands, it could be.  But Rather than a parody, though, the work is "a revelation." You will need to purchase your own ticket for the play.  Be sure to get Sunday, December 10 at 2:30.

We will meet in front of the theater at 2:00.  Or, if people are interested, we could meet at noon for lunch/brunch before the play--you'll be asked when you register.
