About Us

Our Giving Circle is the philanthropic arm of Women's Connection Philadelphia Chapter (formerly TTN). We are a dedicated group of individuals who pool our giving dollars to support our mission to improve the lives of women and children in Philadelphia.

Passionate about making a difference, Giving Circle members not only pool giving dollars, but also conduct educational programs and other initiatives to raise awareness of the challenges facing Philadelphia’s women and children. Each year, through our annual grants review process, we come together to learn about and identify deserving nonprofits that could benefit from our grant support. Once a year, in May, members vote to select the nonprofit(s) that will be awarded our annual grant(s). Giving Circle members believe that this method of collective philanthropy increases the impact of each dollar given.

Including our 2024 grants (awarded May 2024), our Philadelphia Giving Circle will have awarded more than $360,000 in grants and donations to Philadelphia nonprofits since making the first grant in 2013. This is the POWER OF COLLECTIVE GIVING.

Mission Statement

The mission of our Giving Circle is to improve the lives of women and children in Philadelphia. Giving Circle members pool dollars, make grants to nonprofit organizations and conduct educational programs and other initiatives to raise awareness of the significant needs in our city. We are passionate about making a difference, nurturing relationships with the organizations we support and engaging with our members to build a better community.

Diversity Statement

Our Giving Circle actively works to increase the scope and diversity of our grant applicants. We believe that organizations that prioritize diversity, equity, and inclusion create environments that respect and value individual differences, and are uniquely suited to address the needs of the communities to which they are dedicated. Inclusive organizations foster cultures that reduce bias and make decisions better able to address systemic inequities. We are committed to equity, diversity, collaboration, inclusiveness, transparency, and accountability.

Executive Council

Our Giving Circle is overseen by an Executive Council. The Executive Council defines the Giving Circle’s vision, strategic direction, its general management and operations. Executive Council members lead four committees that you may find of interest. See committee descriptions in the “Volunteer Opportunities” section.

Volunteer Opportunities – Giving Circle Committees

Grants Committee – performs the core activities of the annual grants process by reviewing the nonprofits’ grants applications, planning and conducting nonprofit site visits, and recommending the final applicants for the Annual Voting Meeting of all Giving Circle voting members. The Grants Committee meets between JAN – MAY. It requires commitment to a number of meetings needed to fulfil the review cycle and award our grants in May. Giving Circle members interested in the Grants Committee should email their interest to TTNPhiladelphiaGivingCircle@gmail.com before the end of DEC in order to participate on the following year’s committee.

Development & Member Engagement Committee – ensures a robust, growing membership and to growing our giving dollars. Development activities focus on increasing the number of new members and donors, retaining existing contributors, and encouraging higher levels of giving. Membership Engagement activities focus on ensuring members have a rewarding Giving Circle experience, by creating opportunities for members to interact, learn and engage with each other and our grantees.

Communications Committee – designs and implements communications that build awareness of the Giving Circle’s mission, activities and achievements; drives attendance and engagement; and educates the broader TTN community on the needs of Philadelphia’s women and children.

Programs Committee – designs and implements educational programs, volunteerism and other initiatives – to increase our understanding of and support for the challenges facing children in Philadelphia.

Events Committee – designs and implements in-person events with the goal of giving Giving Circle members more opportunities to get together.

If you wish to join any of these committees, please email us at TTNPhiladelphiaGivingCircle@gmail.com.
